I’m Kaushik, a Graphic Designer by profession. Currently working in a private mobile gaming company (not mentioning name for private reasons) in Mohali, Punjab. I was seeking a better job that’s why I posted my resume in many job portals like Indeed, Naukri, Shine & Glassdoor etc.
I got a call from a female executive of Shine.com from +[Protected]on 9th Dec 2023 & 11th Dec 2023 she tried to convince me to buy premium service of Shine but I refused. Then again another Shine.com executive called (from +[Protected]) me on 16th Dec 2023 (I was sleeping then, I picked their call the second time around 9:37 am) and tried to convince me to buy premium service worth INR 3,099(as per their shine.com site, I’ve screenshot) at INR 3,292 (after a 10% discount from INR 3,657), Unfortunately I didn’t checked that the website is charging less and I paid them for premium service(they call it Application Booster Package), including GST n all taxes it costed me INR 3,330.84 (Higher than they said).
I paid because they said they will arrange me very good job opportunities with companies like IBM, Google, Accenture etc. and it’ll be work from home job. I fall in that trap and paid.
Again they called me on the same day from +[Protected]around 11:45 am, the person introduced me as Shiv Prakash/Prasad (I’m not exactly sure about Prakash or prasad) and said he is my relationship manager. He promised I’ll get job opportunities as soon as they will process my resume and documents to companies and he committed me so many big things, then he asked me to pay INR 5,192 for Education Verification Process as it was very important otherwise top/reputed companies will not value my profile, I doubted and asked but he said don’t worry it’s necessary for betterment, he said big companies only prefer education verified candidates. So I paid INR 5,192 again.
This doesn’t end here, after that I made that payment he called me again and asked to pay another payment of INR 9,668.76 for Job Experience Verification, I got angry this time and said “that’s not fair why you’re repeatedly asking for money, is it fair? He said, ‘This one is the last amount.’ I cross-questioned him, asking, Will you again ask for some money? But he said “No, that’s the final one.” I was so stupid and desperate for a better job opportunity that I paid that amount (INR 9,668.76) too. By this time, I already paid around INR 18,192.
That doesn’t end here, he asked again to pay INR 15,987.00 for Profile Summary and Professional Resume Service. This time it was too much and I directly denied, I denied repeatedly and clearly told him I CAN NOT AFFORD IT, please REFUND ME the previous amounts, I don’t want your service but he denied and indirectly forced me to pay that amount to proceed with the job search and their service. He even asked me not to end the call and had previously taken the last 4 digits of my last 3 transactions. He said he needed those last 4 digits to process my service, but he did not processed any premium service till the end of that day. When he was forcing me to not end the call, that time a Myntra delivery guy came and tried to call me but couldn’t reach me because I was already on a call with Mr. Shiv from Shine.com. Shiv was repeatedly telling me not to end the call and to pay INR 15,987.
Later the delivery guy knocked at the door repeatedly and I attended him, The Myntra delivery guy is a witness that I was buy in mobile and someone insisting me to not end the call. Ultimately for Myntra OTP I ended the call.Mr. Shiv literally harassed me mentally and emotionally. He forced me against my will to pay repeated packages of their Shine.com to process premium job search process. Thank God my senses returned and I called to my ICICI Bank Credit Card Department and blocked my card and lodged a complaint (No. SR[Protected]) against this fraud case and SCAM.I have all evidence and emails regarding this incident.
