I deposited Rs 10000 to Sapphire International School Noida as security money (refundable) for the admission of my child in UKG for the session 2021-22. However, just when the session was about to start, Covid pandemic gripped the nation.

The school said the classes will be held online for students. But since my ward was in UKG I did not want her attend online classes as she was too young for it. I requested the school to cancel her admission and refund the money.

Subsequently I started home tution for my ward to cover her UKG syllabus and prepare her for standard 1 next year. The school requested me to keep her admission secure as there was no need to cancel it and my ward can get enrolled to standard 1 the next year, to which I agreed.

However, just before the beginning of the new session they started asking for full school fees of three month. Since my child neither attended the school offline or online, it was not acceptable to me.

So I again applied for the cancellation of my ward's admission. But the school is refusing to pay the security deposit. The school is saying they are forfeiting the deposit as they have suffered loss of a seat.
