Flipkart Sent Defective Mobile

I have ordered an iPhone thru flipkart and I got defective mobile from them. From the day one itself the left mic is not working. I have contacted flipkart they said they can’t do anything here and asking to contact apple support and go for repair. Why I have to go for repair for brand new phone?
